In order to ensure that 大学 personnel has access to the current computing technology required to fulfill the responsibilities of their jobs, the “电脑生命周期更换计划” was instituted in 2003. The program provides for scheduled replacement of computers for full-time faculty, 全职工作人员, and specified computing laboratory facilities every 60 months.
Eligibility for the program is determined by the 资讯科技部’s Assistant Vice President of Technical Support Services in accordance with this policy which is reviewed annually by the Vice President of 信息技术 in collaboration with the 大学’s 副总统 and Academic Deans.
请注意: As of May 2021, we have extended all IT acquired and distributed computers to 60-months.

- 电脑通常每五年更换一次, a duration that corresponds to industry benchmarks for the useful life of laptop and desktop computer systems.
- 通常在60个月的学期结束之前, those with a lifecycle program asset in their possession will be contacted by the IT Support Services Manager or local support tech team to select a replacement computer and to establish a date for the equipment exchange.
- The 电脑生命周期更换计划 will cover normal wear and tear replacement during the course of the program. Damage outside of normal wear and tear is the responsibility of the user or department.
- 所有程序设备(包括电缆), 鼠标, 键盘, and other items delivered with the computer) must be returned to the 大学. There is no option to purchase Lifecycle Replacement Program computers.
- Replacement of computers is subject to available funding.
用户的责任
大学 personnel is expected to exercise care to assure against theft and damage of equipment provided to them. In situations where negligence or violations of this policy result in damage or loss of equipment, the cost for its repair or replacement will be the responsibility of the employee and/or department. 被盗设备需要警方报告.
Equipment is provided to 大学 personnel exclusively for their use. Its use by others is prohibited except for occasional use by other 大学 personnel who are eligible to participate in the Lifecycle Replacement Program. 在某些情况下, the equipment can be reallocated to another employee at the 大学 but only with the prior documented permission of the Assistant Vice President of Technical Support Services.

In order to contain costs and realize maintenance and support efficiencies, the 大学 community is provided with a list of approved computer systems from which to choose. The equipment standards are developed by an ad hoc committee recruited by the Vice President for 信息技术 from among the various administrative and academic units that comprise the 大学. The Committee is charged to review the hardware options available in relation to campus needs and to recommend specific hardware configurations that best meet the features and functionality requirements of the 大学 overall.

Requests for non-default Workstations (Advanced Windows, 苹果, and/or desktops) will required to submit a justification along with approval from your Dean and/or Vice President. Submissions will need to be approved by your local tech team Director followed by the AVP, 信息技术.

按季度计算, IT will distribute inventories of non-default (苹果 or Advanced Windows) workstations assigned to individuals along with upcoming renewal dates, 致院长, 副总统, and Technology Directors/Coordinators for their future reference when reviewing requests for non-default workstations.
